This morning Kim and I ran 7 miles as part of our training for the Baltimore half-marathon coming up this October. We found a 2.5 mile paved loop at a local park that circled a lake and was fairly wooded. Made for a great run together--finishing it in an hour-and-change. Of course, next week we push up to 8 miles.
I approach this coming week of training with much fear: the last time I attempted running 8 miles while training for a half-marathon I ended up tearing my IT band and had to get an MRI and PT for my injured knee. Ultimately, I was unable to complete training and have yet to run a half-marathon.
We'll see what happens--thus far my knee seems to be holding out nicely. The big test will be the following week when we push further than 8 miles and begin a 9 mile regiment. I've never run that far in my life (at one time) and am excited to cross that new threshold injury-free. I have several friends and family members (my beautiful wife included!) who have run half-marathons and even full marathons. I look forward to joining that elite club soon... Kim, Jim, Jenny, Jay, Sally, Chad, Gretchen...
Adam, I did a seven-miler today, too! Are you familiar with www.coolrunning.com? It's a cool site where you can log your runs and it will figure out your average pace and total mileage for each week, month and year. Neat site with some cool featured. I recommend it. Good luck with the rest of your training!

Yeah! You found Centennial Park! Hang around til almost dusk to witness the Canadian Geese coming "home", landing on the lake. Awesome experience!
