tagged!
I've been tagged by Chad. By some divine mystery I have avoided getting "tagged" until now. Honestly, I really don't like the whole "tag" idea, but nonetheless, I shall play along! So, here are five random factoids about me:
- When I was a senior in high school I skinned and tanned a deer hide.
- My hair used to be long enough that I could reach behind my back and pull on it (it was about 14 inches long when I finally cut it).
- I have Bono's autograph on my wall.
- There is only one movie that I cry during every time that I see it: Rudy.
- When I graduated from seminary, my church in Georgia gave me Wuest's Word Studies in the Greek New Testament and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Bono? Cool!
I have two autograph pics of "THE BEAR" one is a month before he died.

Not really a comment about this post, but how are things going with your apple? I would really like to know what you think of it, it will influence my decision on getting one, or chickening out and staying with the pc.

Don't get him started on his apple--he tried to take it to bed with him last night...

has it been wierd/ hard using different software? how about between your old pc and the apple?
Posted by: Kevin Griffin | Friday, January 19, 2007 at 02:59 PM
kevin~ here's the deal. if all you're doing is word processing, financial software and spreadsheets, you're fine w/ a pc. you'll end up saving money that route. however, if you're going to be editing movies, working with photos, building web pages, video conferencing or building a digital music library (esp. itunes) in addition to the previously mentioned tasks, then an apple is the way to go.
i purchased ms office for mac when i got my comp. it has ms word, excel, power point and a quasi-outlook program called entourage. i've been extremely pleased with it. (you can get the student/teacher edition even if you're not a student or teacher, and its about 100 bucks cheaper than the standard office.) thus far i have had zero compatability issues with files that i created in these programs on pc. i should note that matt did have some issues on ms office for mac, but i think that it is because he created those files in ms office 2000 and not ms office xp (all my docs are xp).
transfering files was a piece of cake. i have a wireless network @ home and simply found each comp on the network, copy & pasted the files here.
quicken for mac sucks. if you're a quicken user on pc, you'll be sorely disappointed on mac. other than that, it's worth it.
are you looking for desktop or notebook? the imac desktops are pretty sweet--they're just a screen with wireless keyboard and mouse starting at around a grand. go to an apple store to see the stuff yourself.
hope that helps!

thanks for the info. Im looking to get a laptop for my travels. My current laptop is like 10 years old and ways about 10 lbs. I saw someone the other day with an apple notebook that weighed like 2 lbs, and had lots more of everything than mine does. My only concern is that I have all of this software that I use alot, I dont want to have to get all new stuff. Anywhoo, thanks again.
ps when you get a chance, I still would like to hear more about titheing?.

kevin~ one more thing. all the new macs run on intel duo 2 processers. that means that you can literally run windows on the mac os (a program called parallels does it). so, if you have a copy of windows, you can load it onto your mac and then run all the software you currently have. pretty sweet, eh?

NO WAY! Thats pretty darn cool!!! Hey by the way, have you thought about podcasting your sermons? My old Church in GA did that, it was really great for us who travel or just wanted to share it with someone who needed to hear it.

Why didn't the shotgun ever come up in the conversation about the stupid cats in your yard?
