Well, all you NCAA football fans: this is the week we've been waiting for all year! The week when the democrats finally put aside their petty differences and unify! Er, um, I mean, the week when TOTAL SEC football domination of the BCS begins once again!! (Can I get a witness?!)
As most of you know, I'm a BAMA fan. High Tide or low Tide, I've never been fair weather. That means the past seven falls have been especially grueling on my nervous system. But, my friends, the Tide is coming in this year! No, this won't be "their" year--its UGA's year to shine (pre-season ranked #1)--but give 'em another year or two and the past seven years will seem like a blink in the eye. I must say its nice to see BAMA ranked at the beginning of the season (#24). Roll Tide, Roll!
Things aren't looking so bad for my alma mater either. Carson-Newman is starting the year ranked #5 in Division II.
As I did last year, here are my predictions for the Tide's schedule this year. I must say, BAMA by far has the most difficult season of all SEC teams this year: from starting the season off playing #9 Clemson away and playing Georgia, Tennessee and LSU all away as well. Perhaps the only saving grace might by playing Aubu$^ at home this year.
- 8.30 @ Clemson (W) - Get prepared for a major upset with #24 BAMA reminding the ACC that they just don't know how to play ball. Clemson is ranked #9?? Really?
- 9.06 Tulane (W) -A close game. Again, we wonder: Why does BAMA alway play down?
- 9.13 Western Kentucky (W) - A not-so-close game. The second half sees 3rd string players get a chance to hit the field.
- 9.20 @ Arkansas (W) - First SEC game. Not as close as last year's amazing win in the last 8 seconds, but still a nail biter.
- 9.27 @ Georgia (L) - Playing UGA @ UGA will be unbelievably difficult for any team this year. BAMA's first loss, but at least its to a school with class and a high ranking. (Don't worry, though. We'll see 'em again in the SEC Championship!)
- 10.4 Kentucky (W) - Oooh... a tight game.
- 10.11 BI WEEK
- 10.18 Mississippi (W) - 'Ole Miss plays tough, but peters out in the second half.
- 10.25 @ Tennessee (W) - A very, very, very physical game. Lots of bad blood here. It'll be high scoring and a genuine slug-out.
- 11.1 Arkansas St. (W) - We get a breather before the storm.
- 11.8 @ LSU (L) - Uhm, we might... just might... win this one. Our boys are gonna be pretty beat up after this one.
- 11.15 Mississippi St. (W) - We might... just might... loose this one. LSU was such a tough game we might not recover.
- 11.22 BI WEEK
- 11.29 Auburn (W) - Finally. Redeem Team comes through for us this year. *whew*
And, finally, in a bizarre turn of events where LSU looses to Auburn, Florida and Arkansas, BAMA shows up in Atlanta to play Georgia for the SEC Championship. I'm not gonna call a definite win or loss on this second meeting... BAMA might just have enough khutzpah to win it... but it sure would be sweet to see another SEC team take home the BCS Title again. Mixed feelings...

I'll take that!

should certianly be a fun year to watch football in the Feldman house :)
Local football should be decent this year too. Maryland isn't great, but they should be good and the ACC is down this year with the exception of Clemson.

Um, please.
Bama wins in Knoxville? After the woodshed beating you guys gave us last year forget it... Neyland will be a hornet's nest and you guys are gonna get thumped. Mark it down.

Maybe ole App State can help you out this weekend against LSU. I think the game will be alot closer than most people think.

Bama with the toughest schedule in SEC? You must not have seen my Gators' schedule. You're lucky your Tide doesn't have to go to the swamp this year...
